Hogwarts, Vampires, and God?

The popularity of The Harry Potter and Twilight movies has stirred up controversy since their release, within Christian circles. Particularly with parents who are concerned about the impact these novels will have on their children and their faith.

The Eighth Day Institute is presenting the upcoming Symposium,  "Imagination and Soul",  featuring John Granger whom Time magazine has called "The Dean of Harry Potter Scholars".  If you have questioned this phenomenon or struggled with whether to allow your children to read the novels, Granger will be presenting his views on their literary and spiritual meanings.  Taking place at St. George Orthodox Cathedral  (7515 E. 13th N.), from 9am-5pm. There will be breakout sessions relating to literature and spiritual formation, complimentary lunch, and tour of the beautiful St. George Cathedral. Reservations/registration is required.
You can view more information about this symposium at the Eighth Day Institute website, just click my link.

The Eighth Day Institute, founded in Wichita in 2006, is an organization seeking to renew culture through faith and learning. Full of opportunities for fellowship, faith and learning, it is an organization open to most all forms of christian belief. They offer classes, prayer meetings, symposiums, fabulous speakers, and my husband's favorite:  "Hall of Men". Check them out at www.eighthdayinstitute.com.  You may also find them on Facebook .
