Specialty Grocer Offers Flowering Favorites for Mother’s Day

GREENSBORO, N.C. (May 7, 2013) – The Fresh Market is proud to offer fresh and fragrant flowers for the women who deserve it most!  And with Mother’s Day right around the corner, the specialty grocer wants to make selecting the perfect gift effortless.  The Fresh Market’s floral department offers affordable and long-lasting flowers, including a stunning array of orchids in various colors.

SpottedOrchid_shortHistorically, orchids are a symbol of rare and delicate beauty, making them an ideal Mother’s Day gift.  Orchids are known for their cheerful colors, require minimal care and can provide six to eight weeks of blooms on a single stem. Orchids are a signature item at The Fresh Market and its stores offer a variety of sizes and price points in these exquisite blooms.

Below are a few helpful tips from The Fresh Market to ensure the flowers remain bright and beautiful for as long as possible.

·         Light:  Place in a bright to medium light location.  Avoid direct sunlight.  Indirect sunlight is recommended.
·         Water:  Water once a week, with a half cup of water.  When watering, let water run freely through the pot.  Most orchids tolerate being dry better than being too wet.  If the moss feels moist, do not water.
·         Temperature:  Blooming 65-75°F; after blooming 75-85°F (Growing)
·         Cutting and repotting:   After the bloom is finished cut the base of the stem. Repotting should be done after blooming. After repotting, we recommend 10-10-10 or 12-12-12 fertilizer.
