Back-to-School Products for a Smooth Transition

*the following is a post that I received compensation for in free product. I do not receive any additional pay for purchases from my links or clicks. Thanks!

It’s almost that time again.  Enrollment has begun and the first day of school is less than a month away for Wichita area schools.

Though summer seems to go by faster and faster every year, it is too easy to lose healthy routines and habits.

Here are a few tips and products to get back in the swing of things simply, smartly and stylishly.

1. Practice makes perfect.
Exhaustion the first couple weeks of school is inevitable. Ease the early morning transition by getting back into a regular bedtime routine one month to 2 weeks before the first day. You can do this gradually by moving the time for bed and the time they wake up earlier in 30 minute increments. Keep this going until you get to the time you want them awake for school, and then start “practice” with the morning routine of getting dressed, doing chores, eating breakfast, etc. so kids know what to expect and how long it may take to make it to school on time.

2. Anticipate the nerves.

The first day of school is nerve-wracking at any age or grade. Find an opportunity to visit your child’s new school or class room prior to the first day. I love how most schools help this out with an open house or ice cream social a day or two before. Take middle-schoolers to their lockers to practice their combinations and to organize school supplies and decorate. The first few days of school, calm first day jitters naturally and safely with homeopathic Kids Relief, With Calming Effect, Syrup. This safe, non-medicinal, homeopathic product is perfect for hyperactivity and restlessness! It also cures irritability and nervousness, two challenges your kids may have on the first day of school.  It’s easy-to-administer and delivers fast-acting relief, with no risk of overdose. Kids Relief with Calming Effect Syrup is at CVS locations nationwide, and retails for $6.99.

3. Prepare, prepare, prepare
Not only do you want to have all the right school supplies ready to go, and that first day of school outfit picked out, but you don’t want to worry about head lice. School back in session increases the possibility of transmittal. Having a kit on hand will have you prepared when itching kids appear. The kit includes the Lice Goodbye natural lice treatment, the #1 metal Terminator Nit-Free removal comb, and Easy-grip sectioning clip, and Rosemary Repel Conditioning Spray. The kit is pesticide-free, safe for repeated use and retails for $29.95 at all Ulta and Bed Bath & Beyond nationwide, and online at fairytalefaircare.com. By purchasing Fairy Tales Lice Good-Bye Survival Kit in advance, you will be ready to treat your child’s lice outbreak when it occurs.

4. The Right Bag.
Dabbawalla Bags are not only adorable, colorful and stylish, but functional. Dabbawalla Bags have Backpacks and lunch sacks made with eco-friendly materials, PVC, BPA, lead and phthalates free, in wholesome, colorful designs. Washable, stretchy, and sturdy material that is sure to hold up through the whole school year. Lunch bags retail for $24 and up, backpacks for $40, and can be purchased online at dabbawallabags.com

5. Look Stylish.
No need to worry about cookie cutter, copy-cat fashion with a tee from Tiny Twerps. “Be Original. Wear Original” is the motto for the makers of these children’s tee-shirts. Designs and images are created exclusively for this company by a local artist. Personalize for a truly custom look.  Recently featured on Zulily, these tee’s are made here in Wichita. Tiny Twerps Tees donates 10% of all sales St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. (Like their Facebook page for 10% off your first purchase!)  You can also find them on Etsy, and at their website.

6. Stay healthy.
It’s not usually practical for kids to brush their teeth after lunch, and most schools do not allow gum on the premises.  Do the next best option and include a spry mint for after lunch cavity fighting. Spry mints are proven to reduce cavities, and freshen breath. It’s safe for children, fluoride free, and sweetened with Xylitol an all-natural plant-derived, tooth protecting sweetener. Available in berry, cinnamon, spearmint and peppermint flavors, each container holds about 40 mints. One pack retails for $11.94 online at www.xlear.com.  Or ask your hygenist as these are dentist approved.

These are just a few solutions for the new school year! Here’s to a year of looking your best and good health, free of exhaustion, nerves, and being unprepared! Have an awesome school year for 2014/2015!
