Adventures in Gardening

Hubs and I decided to turn an unused (weed patch) section of landscaping alongside our house into a garden.  Having never really grown anything, we just kind of jumped into this project assuming that if we plant it, it will grow.  So we started by pulling all the weeds out, and then tilled it up with this handy electric tiller we borrowed from a friend.

Then we leveled and filled it up with some expensive garden soil that has fertilizer in it.  The soil that was there was pretty much a sandy, woody mix. Now it's ready to plant!!
Brother was excited to help put the plants in and was sure he could do it with his "superhero powers"!

Baby Sister was ready to help too!

Got the plants in the soil and then gave it a good watering.

So maybe we will have basil, strawberries, asparagus, red peppers, jalapeno, lettuce, tomatoes, rosemary, squash and zucchini in a few weeks.
Here's a couple of free ebooks I used to get some education before I started:   Grow Your Own Food.  Free on Amazon Kindle.  Organic Gardener's Composting, Free on Amazon Kindle, and Easy Vegetarian Recipes, Free on Kindle.
