Pumpkins, cowboys, ladies in waiting and shopping on tap this weekend...

There's a good variety of things to look into for entertaining the family this weekend.  Thanks goes out to Wichita on the Cheap of course for keep me so informed on some of these things. So here's the list of what I found. I have provided links for each event in case I don't give you all the info you need. Enjoy your weekend!

The 33rd annual County Fair is at Cowtown starting at 4:30 on Saturday, October 9th. Regular museum admission applies, with lots of games, food and entertainment.

Pumpkin Palooza is happening at Salina's Rolling Hills Wildlife Park. It takes place from 9-4 Saturday and kids get in free with a paid adult from 9-2.  It is a pumpkin themed festival with a free pumpkin (while they last!), live entertainment and buggy rides.

Bethel College in Newton is having it's annual Fall Festival on campus from 12:30-2:30 in Newton. Live music with DJ live broadcast. Food, fun and more.

Sedgwick Co. Park is hosting the Great Plains Renaissance Festival.  October 9th and 10th. Go to the website for a full schedule and ticket pricing and advance purchase locations.

This Saturday also marks the first of what is to be many more discount shopping events at Delano, Old Town and Douglas Design Districts. Titled "2nd Saturday", just purchase a recyclable bag at a participating retailer for $5 and receive special incentives, discounts and sales. Some are what you can fit into your bag, but most are just a special offer for participation. Hopefully more and more local business owners will get involved to make this a "must do" every month to support locally-owned business as well. Wichita on the Cheap has more info on what is being offered and a link to the official Facebook page for the event.
