Free Wii Accessory
For those of you who already own a Nintendo Wii gaming system, this is pretty exciting. Apparently Nintendo is now including the jackets to go on all wii remotes purchased. Previously this was an optional "add-on" accessory that is, in my family's opinion, pretty necessary to keep your hardware intact, and protect the safety of those around you. I guess Nintendo figured they would be doing a service by keeping the injury complaints down.
If your Wii did not come with remote jackets, go to the website link here, and enter your gaming systems information to see if you qualify. They will allow you to get jackets for all existing remotes. Not sure though how this will work if you have the Motion plus remotes. This is definitely a freebie worth trying to get! Good luck!

Everyday Health is giving away a free sample of Vaseline Intensive Rescue Lotion. After you fill out the information required you will then get tips and info on how to rescue your dry skin. Just in time for winter! No info on size but it should arrive in about two weeks!

Keeping babies safe
There is an education campaign launching soon from the CPSC (Consumer Product Safety Commission) and other child safety organizations to encourage and educate parents and parents to be, on crib and sleep safety.
With the recall of 7 million cribs over the past two years, and cribs still leading as the leading nursery product to cause death, the timing is still short to save more deaths from happening. The group is focused on educating and informing not only parents but child care workers and health care providers, social workers, nurses and doctors.
See a preview of the video to be given out at their website keepingbabiessafe.org. Also on the page are recalls, news, safety tips, links and resources for other safety issues and topics. You can also make a donation to Project Safe Crib that buys cribs and donates them to underprivileged families.
If you have a crib or are planning to buy one in the future, please check for recalls online at cpsc.org, Do not use an old or outdated crib, and educate yourself on sleep safety for your infant.

A Groupon Today for....
So I was promised something really special today that we were all going to get excited about, but what I wasn't told was that we'd have to travel about 350 miles to fully enjoy it!!
But it's still exciting as there are so many of us who enjoy taking the trip up to Kansas City to shop or enjoy it's entertainment. -Especially now that the holiday shopping season is almost in full swing.
So I present to you...The Body Shop!
$20 for $40 worth of merchandise. You can use towards sale items, and use your "Love Your Body" discount cards. I haven't been in The Body Shop for awhile, but last I remember they were eco-conscious, fairly hip, and uber-natural bath and beauty products.
I was actually recently given a sample package of some of the Nutriganics skin care and really liked the Foaming Facial Wash. Good scent, squeaky clean, soft skin. Sounds like a "score" to me!!!!

Magical Mystical God
"I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing." (John 15:5)
God has been doing so many amazing things in our church during our annual Judgement House. In case you aren't familiar with it, it is a walk-through drama portraying a tragic or dramatic situation in which the lead characters end up in either hell or heaven. It is a drama meant to make you think hard and serious about your walk with Jesus and about accepting the free gift of salvation.
The past two nights I have been volunteering in different areas. It has been an exciting and exhilarating experience so far. I have gotten to meet some great people in our church who are sacrificing their time, energy and families to be there and show their faith. These aren't people with special training, college degrees, specially blessed by some saint or priest. Most of them have never even done anything like this before. They come, eager to participate with simply amazing stories of loss, pain, frustration and then miraculous transformation at what love and trust can do with one single decision. They know something that maybe others haven't found yet, hoping to maybe make a difference for someone who may find something that they didn't realize they needed, but were looking for all along.
So hundreds of people now have been accepting this wonderful idea and letting it start to transform their lives. But this ministry, we won't take credit for it. We are acting, serving, helping and guiding tours simply as helpers to God's already perfectly laid out plans. We have seen many who seem battered, that look lost, who may appear scary or scared. There are the rejected ones, the forgotten ones, the ones who are feeling the effects of poor decisions and bad circumstances. But our job is not to judge, for no one there is claiming to be perfect, or better or smarter. We simply have something to share. Joy, hope, compassion and most importantly, love. We have opened the doors, and we simply let God do the rest.
"Be an example to all believers in what you say, in the way you live, in your love, your faith, and your purity. Until I get there, focus on reading the Scriptures to the church, encouraging the believers and teaching them."
(1 Timothy 4:12-13)
"You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit—fruit that will last. Then the Father will give you whatever you ask in my name. This is my command:
Love each other." John 15:9-17
Interested in Judgement House? Tours will continue Sunday, and then next Wednesday-Friday, and Sunday the 31st. There are still reservations available walk-ins are welcome.
Go to Newspring.org for more information and tickets in advance.
If you are tired of trying to do it all by yourself, and getting nothing but frustration in life, and you want to accept the free gift of salvation, all you have to do is ask. God has been there all along, just waiting for you to ask for him and his forgiveness. Ask him into your heart today, if you have been waiting, there is no better time than now.

movies, cheaper
So if you really enjoyed the recent Movie ticket Groupon, or missed out on it and want to get in on all the hub-bub. Weekly Cinema is a movie club all about cheap tickets. If you go to the movies at least once per month, this is easily worth it! For as little as $15.99 per month you get movie tickets to your local movie theater. From what I understand this is the same site that the recent Groupon was for so Warren Theaters should be included as a participating theater. You get one free ticket just for signing up and access for you and 1 friend to go to special invitation movie screenings (in participating cities). Go online to reserve your tickets and time, and pick the tickets up at the theater. Cancel your membership at any time.
This would be so great for a large family with teens to save some money. Now if there was only a discount club for popcorn....
I am an affiliate publisher for Weekly Cinema and it's partners. Any purchase you make through my web links support my page. Thank you.

Fall for some fun this weekend....
Thursday already? Time to start planning your weekend. Here's some fun family activities I found on tap for October 22nd - 24th.
Wichita Police will be holding a Halloween in the park safety event on Friday, October 22nd from 6-9pm at Cypress park on 350 S. Edgemoor. Trick or treating, safety tips and a free bear from Wesley hospital for elementary aged children only. A safe environment to get some treats and learn some tips and interact with Wichita Police and safety personnel.
The Sedgwick Co. Zoo's annual Night of the Living Zoo is the 22nd, 23rd and 24th from 6:30-8:30 each night. Tickets can now be bought in advance for $6 per person at any local QT. If you are a zoo member they are $6 at the door, and $8 for nonmembers. My kids have always enjoyed this event where they get to play games, get their faces painted, and get all kinds of free candy. This is definitely my must-do pick of the season!
"Trick or Treat Street" at Wichita Children's Theater and Dance Center. It is an interactive, indoor Halloween-themed event for children 10 and younger. See a musical, and trick or treat along an imaginary street with 16 doors for kids to get treats and goodies at. See a clown, play games, and have a safe, fun time for younger kids. Go to the website for times available.
For some faith filled fun this weekend there are two really great options. One is "A-Maze-In-Grace" presented by Christ Community Church. Located on 2130 S. Webb Rd, it is an interactive maze with harvest events and games. Live music is being featured this Saturday. Go to the website for driving directions, times, and a link to a coupon!
Another great option, that might make you have chills is Judgment House put on annually by Newspring Church on East 21st and K96. Find out what happens when a couple's life is shattered during a home invasion that sends them to the "other side". This is a drama about faith that you should consider seeing for yourself. I saw last years and the heaven and hell scenes are so amazing! There is a lot of time, talent and dedication that goes into this annual production that is life-changing for hundreds of people every year. If you have questions about faith, and are curious, you should check it out. (Note: not recommended for children under 10 years old due to sensitive or scary subject matter) To avoid the wait, which could be as much as hours without advance tickets, you can purchase a ticket for $4 on the website.
And finally, if you've been looking for the right time to adopt a new pet for your family, this weekend may be it! The Kansas Humane Society is having an adopt-a-thon this weekend. Starting Friday at 11am all pet adoptions will be half off. I spoke to a volunteer at Pet smart last weekend and she said they will be open round the clock offering the sale until 200 animals have been found homes. What a great cause and a great deal! Remember, getting a pet at the humane society includes the spaying/neutering, and micro-chipping. Check out their great interactive facility and bring the kids to play and connect with just the right pet.
Enjoy the weather and your fall weekend!!

Pumpkins, cowboys, ladies in waiting and shopping on tap this weekend...
There's a good variety of things to look into for entertaining the family this weekend. Thanks goes out to Wichita on the Cheap of course for keep me so informed on some of these things. So here's the list of what I found. I have provided links for each event in case I don't give you all the info you need. Enjoy your weekend!
The 33rd annual County Fair is at Cowtown starting at 4:30 on Saturday, October 9th. Regular museum admission applies, with lots of games, food and entertainment.
Pumpkin Palooza is happening at Salina's Rolling Hills Wildlife Park. It takes place from 9-4 Saturday and kids get in free with a paid adult from 9-2. It is a pumpkin themed festival with a free pumpkin (while they last!), live entertainment and buggy rides.
Bethel College in Newton is having it's annual Fall Festival on campus from 12:30-2:30 in Newton. Live music with DJ live broadcast. Food, fun and more.
Sedgwick Co. Park is hosting the Great Plains Renaissance Festival. October 9th and 10th. Go to the website for a full schedule and ticket pricing and advance purchase locations.
This Saturday also marks the first of what is to be many more discount shopping events at Delano, Old Town and Douglas Design Districts. Titled "2nd Saturday", just purchase a recyclable bag at a participating retailer for $5 and receive special incentives, discounts and sales. Some are what you can fit into your bag, but most are just a special offer for participation. Hopefully more and more local business owners will get involved to make this a "must do" every month to support locally-owned business as well. Wichita on the Cheap has more info on what is being offered and a link to the official Facebook page for the event.

Fire Safety Week
"Fire Safety Week" is this week.
Here's a few tips I found to keep your home safe and prepared in case of a fire emergency!
Visit www.kfst.net for easy to read tips for kids.

Here's a few tips I found to keep your home safe and prepared in case of a fire emergency!
- Replace the batteries in your smoke detectors two times per year. Daylight savings time is a great reminder to do it.
- Keep space heaters at least three feet from flammable materials such as curtains, paper, bedding and clothing, and anything combustible.
- Put matches up and away from the reach of children. Teach your children to tell an adult should they see a lighter or matches laying out within reach.
- Practice caution and awareness when burning candles. Never burn candles unattended, and never near flammable objects, like curtains, fabric, or paper.
- If an appliance starts to smoke - unplug it immediately.
- Use caution when cooking, keeping pot handles away from the edge of cooking surfaces. Always have a lid handy in case of flareups, and never leave any cooking unattended.
- Have two escape routes for every room in your home, and make sure all family members are familiar on what to do to escape in case of a fire.
- Plan a meeting place somewhere outside of your home in case of a house fire.
- Fire Extinguishers go everywhere. Have at least two in your home. One for the kitchen, one for the garage. You should even have one in your car and on a boat if you own one.
- Be familiar with the symptoms of CO (carbon monoxide) poisoning. Install a CO detector in your home for added security.
Visit www.kfst.net for easy to read tips for kids.
