Earth Day Events, 2010

Some Earth day options I've found around town to pad your wallet and help you feel "green" for Earth Day which is Thursday, April 22.

Wichita on the Cheap found some great freebies.  One of my fav's I will have to partake in is a free facial cleanser from Origins, just for trading in your old one. You get a choice of a full-size bottle of either Checks and Balances Frothy Face Wash or A Perfect World Antioxidant Cleanser with White Tea. Up to $20 value.

Sedgwick County Zoo and Boeing Wichita are presenting Earth Day Kansas, a free environmental fair at the zoo from 9-2pm on Earth Day. Interactive, hands on activities geared to children in grades 3-5.

The Wichita Water Center will be holding it's annual "Earth Fest" at Herman Hill Park and the Wichita Water Center.  Go to lectures, demonstrations, shop earth friendly vendors all for free from 10-9pm Saturday, April 24. The theme this year is "Just Food", but ironically there are no food vendors at this fest, so bring your picnic baskets, blankets and lounge chairs. There will be live bands and a solar cookout demonstration. Tours of the Wichita Water Center will run from 11-4 and are also free.  Stick around till dark, because at 8:30 will be an LED light show.  Surely not to be missed.

If you know of any other Special Earth day events going on the rest of this week or weekend, just drop me a line at wichitacitymom@gmail.com, or on my facebook page.  And if you aren't into crowds or special giveaways, make it a point to leave the earth in a little better shape than you found it.  There are so many things you can do today, to make a difference for tomorrow!  Have a happy one!!
