Money Minded Mommas

If you're like me, and my husband, spending money is a big deal in our house. It's hard to manage where it goes when there's not much to manage. Making our dollar stretch has been a part-time job as I spend a lot of time couponing, price comparing and sale shopping. But that alone is not always enough if you are trying to pay down debt and manage your liabilities. A friend of ours turned us on to a website called mint.com. It's a free online budget and financial planning website. Connect all of your banking and financial institutions that have internet banking, to access your balances and transactions in one place. There are even apps available for iPhone and android users.
Track your spending, budget, set up targeted savings, and find the best deals for financing needs all in one place. It has been an extremely beneficial tool for our family. Helping us to understand what we are doing with our money, and clearly, and visually be able to plan for where we want it to go. I highly recommend mint.com, and hope it helps you the way it has us!
If you are really seriously needing a financial overhaul, you may also want to check out Dave Ramsey. If you aren't familiar with his methods, then I'm sure you have heard of him. He is making a big impact on families all around the country who are learning to look at their money and debt in an entirely new way. We went through the Dave Ramsey Financial Peace University and our minds were transformed by how we look at debt and savings. Our generation is picking ourselves up from the mistakes of our parents and many of us have a lack of training when it comes to managing money. Christian based (there are more scriptures in the bible about money than any other topic), Dave will show you the steps to being debt free, saving, and having a nice nest egg to get you through past retirement. Check with your local church or online to find a class near you.
