Versona Accessories lands in Wichita!

Disclaimer: The following opinions are my own and based off my shopping experience. I was compensated with a $25 gift card and otherwise was not paid for this post.
Ladies! Get very excited! Ditch the kids with their Dad or Grandma, grab a girlfriend, or just enjoy some solitude and head on over to Bradley Fair and check out the new Versona store!

New to this area, Versona offers a department store/boutique feel without the prices. Don't let the fancy facade, shiny floors and crystal chandeliers intimidate you, the prices, selection and quality is for everyone!

When you first walk into the store you will notice the layout is perfect for those that are fashion delayed, or accessory challenged. Everything is grouped by color complete with coordinating jewelry, bags and shoes. You'll also find display after display of jewelry, complete sets of earring, necklaces and bracelets arranged by color as well. So there was a display of blues, corals, whites, yellows and greens.  You catch what I mean, making it super simple to find the perfect accessories for an outfit you already have or for one of the great pieces they have in store.

Now here's the exciting part:  I spent about an hour browsing the store and did not see much over $20 by way of clothing!!! Jewelry ranged from $7.99 for a pair of earrings to $15-24 for a necklace.  Dresses that are perfect for a spring or summer wedding for around $40!  Handbags averaged at $24.99 and they all appeared to be great as far as style and quality go. There is a great shoe selection, prices ranging about $25-$30 for super cute platform wedges.  There are even casual flats that start at around $15.

I talked to the store manager, Tina, about Versona, and asked about their sales and quality.  You'll see a lot of the great, trendy looks that are popular on the web and a not to mention names home jewelery party brand.  Looks like the statement bubble necklaces, large rings and stack bracelets.  I checked prices on a variety of items and expected to see larger numbers, but was surprised that prices were something this cheapskate would actually spend.  The great thing that Tina told me was that they keep low quantities so that there aren't a gazillion of the same items running around, and they restock the floor with new items weekly.
What I got for about $26!!

Scarves, belts, sunglasses, shoes, wallets, watches, jewelry, hair accessories and fun gift items like hand painted wine glasses, journals, key chains and more.  I believe you could build an entire head to toe outfit including a bag and stuff to go in it for under $100!  The timing of their opening is perfect for Mother's Day which is Sunday, May 12!

You can check out Versona now at their website here.  Follow them on Facebook, and make sure you sign up for their email list which keeps you updated with the latest product change and new items arriving weekly.

Versona gave me a $25 gift card to shop with, (thank you Versona!) and one to give a reader.  Comment below your favorite accessory splurge item on the rafflecopter widget and I'll announce a winner on Monday, May 6th!! Good luck!
You can shop Versona at Bradley Fair Shopping center on North Rock Rd and 21st Street. Versona is located behind Red Rock between The Fresh Market and Pier 1.

Gnarly Neon Run 2013 - our run recap

*I was not paid to participate and write the following review, but was compensated with tickets to the event. All opinions are mine.

The After Party:  96.3 and a color shower.
Today I participated in my first 5K run.
This was my husband's second. This particular run was a great run to take the whole family. So it was the first run for my kids too.  We all did great, but I, am, sore. That is an understatement. If you don't run normally, and then you try to run most of the 3.5 miles you will pay for it later. Don't let that scare you, because despite being sore, I would totally do it again.
Started at Century II,  then to Keeper of the Plains
 and finished at the boathouse.
The Gnarly Neon Run is part of a national trend sweeping the nation of making a race not only great for a community by supporting a local charity, The Wichita Children's Home, but make it fun:  no timers, no winners, no losers. So it is great for anyone at any fitness level. Throw {literally} in some color, like all over you and everyone else, some live and D.J. provided music along the route and you have the make up for a really great time supporting a great cause you soon won't forget. My kids absolutely loved the idea of getting messy, of course, and couldn't wait to get to each color station along the way.  You are told to wear white if you are "serious" about the event, which definitely helps you to look like you are seriously into it, as by the time you cross the finish you are covered in neon pink, purple, yellow and blue. I thought the cool rayban-ish sunglasses you get at registration was just to make you look cool and provide you with some friendly sun protection, but it actually comes in quite handy as safety from all the colored powdered that is thrown, dumped, sprayed and showered all over you.  Like, totally fun, and I think I spent the whole day explaining to my kids what "gnarly" means.  They think the style and the neon colors from the '80's is "sick" , but they don't understand how we people from the '80's talk. {okay.....}
Starting out, still clean.
Race over, and beat.
We'll be looking forward to next year's Gnarly Neon Run and if there is one coming to your city, you should definitely go!
Check out their website for more stops on the tour here, and follow them on Facebook, and Twitter.

Beautiful weather, and great signs of spring!

Update on the Baby Gracelyn foundation

Just a quick update on the events and fundraiser for Gracelyn Louise Morris who lost her life to SIDS last month.

A fund has been established in Gracie's name and proceeds will go to the family to cover funeral and hospital expenses and to support SIDS research.

You can donate directly to the foundation at www.givingforgracie.com, and see more information about the family and upcoming events to support the foundation.

It is obvious that they are loved and cared for by so many people. SIDS is a tragic experience that no parents or family should ever have to go through. More research needs to be done as so little is still known about why or how this happens. Prayers go out to the family!
